Following the postponement of her South African title fight against Kholosa Ndobayini, Bonita van Jaarsveldt has now changed focus as she is scheduled to fight in Germany next month.

Van Jaarsveldt is set to travel to Germany for a clash against German boxer Beke Bas in a vacant Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) lightweight contest at the Paul Greifzu Stadium in Dessau on Saturday, 22 June.

The 33-year-old Van Jaarsveldt is the reigning SA female lightweight champion having won the title after she beat Raider Muleba in September last year. Van Jaarsveldt, who is rated in 32nd spot by WIBA, has seven victories, five losses and two draws.

On the other hand, the 30-year-old Bas, who is rated sixth by WIBA, is yet to taste defeat in 18 fights as he has won all of them with eight of those victories coming from stoppages.
