It looks like the proposed fight between Mzuvukile ‘Old Bones’ Magwaza and current South African junior-featherweight champion Bongani ‘Wonderboy’ Mahlangu might finally happen.
Both Duncan Village-born Magwaza and Mahlangu from Boipatong have signed and returned fight contracts to boxing promoter David Faas of David Faas Productions.
This fight between Magwaza and Mahlangu is set for July provided it gets the go ahead from the sanctioning committee of Boxing South Africa (BSA).
“We received a contract for the fight and have signed it. And according to the contract, the fight is on the 27th of July,” Magwaza, who is rated third in the junior-featherweight division, confirmed.
Initially, Mahlangu signed a contract which said that the fight was going to be held Sunday, 26 May. However, the date had to be changed to July after Magwaza’s contract got delayed.
Both Magwaza and the 44-year-old Mahlangu will be fighting for the first time this year having last fought in October.
