Phumelela ‘The Truth’ Cafu has given a clear indication that he’s going to relinquish his South African junior-bantamweight crown as fighting for a world title is more tempting to him.
Speaking on TKO Boxing Magazine show on SABC 2 on Friday evening, Cafu made it clear what he wants following his recent move to Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan’s Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg.
“I wouldn’t like to keep the title. I want to become a world champion,” Duncan Village-born Cafu said on TKO Boxing Magazine show.
The 25-year-old Cafu won the SA title after he only took 26 seconds to stop Enathi Stelle at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in December last year.
Cafu is rated 11th by the World Boxing Council (WBC), seventh by the World Boxing Association (WBA), fourth in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) ratings and is in position three in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO).
