There’s a slight change as Zolisa Batyi’s third defence of his South African featherweight title, which is against Yamkela Phaliso has been brought forward by seven days.

Initially, Batyi was pencilled to come up against Phaliso on Saturday, 31 August, but this collision between the two boxers has since been rescheduled for the 24th.

“The date of the fight has been changed to the 24th of August. And nothing has changed in as far as the opponents of my boxers is concerned,” Batyi’s manager Baba ‘Babes’ Makala confirmed.

Batyi and Phaliso were set to have met in March, but the fight didn’t take place. This followed after Phaliso pulled out because of a hand injury. Batyi ended up defending his title against Lucky Hobyane whom he stopped in the eighth round at the Orient Theatre in East London.

Meanwhile, Makala’s other boxer Luvuyo Sizani from Ilinge in Komani clashes with Vuyani Kosana in a vacant SA light-heavyweight title contest.

On the other hand, Chumani Tunzi is set to defend his Eastern Cape junior-welterweight title against former SA featherweight and junior-lightweight titlist Aphiwe ‘Swagger’ Mboyiya. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
