With Siya Vabaza-Booi having been confirmed as Boxing South Africa (BSA) manager in the Eastern Cape on Monday, the sanctioning committee has now been left with three members.
The committee is chaired by erstwhile SA lightweight champion Irvin Buhlalu, who works with journalist Droeks Malan and former BSA manager in Limpopo Tinyiko Nkatingi.
“We are yet to make a decision regarding the sub-committees,” BSA board chairperson Sifiso Shongwe remarked.
The BSA board might decide to keep or change both the sanctioning and ratings committees. The ratings committee is made up of its chairperson Andre de Vries, who’s working with Xolile Dike, former SA junior-welterweight champion Nika Kumalo and one-time International Boxing Organisation (IBO) bantamweight titlist Silence Mabuza.
Both sub-committees were apppointed by acting BSA chief executive officer Mandla Ntlanganiso when he was still the boxing regulator’s accounting authority in March. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
