The board of Boxing South Africa (BSA) is ready to talk to all stakeholders in an effort to bridge the divide that has long existed in the fistic sport.
Addressing the media at the Garden Court OR Tambo on Saturday afternoon, board member Luxolo September spoke about the importance of opening up channels of communication.
“As per the discussion of the board, we are going to reach out to each an every person. We don’t have an enemy, we don’t have a friend, we have boxing people,” September said.
September, a Confederation of African Football (CAF) executive, insisted that no one is going to be forced to speak to them. And he added that the culture of resolving conflicts through courts needs to come to an end.
“We are going to engage everybody to say the tone from Boxing South Africa is ‘Let’s Talk’ because every sponsor we meet is telling us about the same thing. If someone elects not to talk, that’s their right,” September remarked.
“This culture of enemies must come to an end. It’s not business friendly. For boxing to thrive, there must be an environment for it. There must be trust, open communication. We are not gonna talk to each other through lawyers. We are not gonna talk to each other through courts.
“We’ve been here for one month, we have had three board meetings, not because we’ve got nothing to do. It’s important for us to talk to each other, not through media releases and lawyers.” – Monwabisi Jimlongo
