Coming up against a knockout specialist away from home requires nerves of steel and all the luck that one can get, thus Boxing South Africa (BSA) has wished Wasim Chellan well ahead of Saturday’s fight.
Chellan collides with Adel El Garmaoui, who has floored his last seven opponents, in Hochlandhalle, Germany. The two antagonists clash for the IBO International and World Boxing Federation (WBF) International welterweight titles.
“Boxing SA sends its best wishes to Wasim Chellan as he steps into the ring to fight for the IBO International welterweight title in Germany,” a BSA statement said.
“Your hard work, dedication and passion have brought you to this moment. Go out there and show the world what you are made of. We are cheering for you. Good luck, champ.”
The 28-year-old Chellan, who has won all his eight fights with three victories coming from stoppages, goes into this fight on the back of a win over Malawian boxer Denis Mwale at the Goodwood Prison in October last year.
On the other hand, the unbeaten 31-year-old El Garmaoui from Bayern, Germany, has stopped nine of his 12 victims.
