Even though he’s not sure about his next step regarding his South African bantamweight title, Landile ‘Man Down’ Ngxeke’s mission is to continue moving up in the ratings of the world’s top four boxing bodies as he eyes a world title short one day.
Ngxeke stopped Filipino boxer Jerald Paclar in the third round during their fight at the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday.
“I’m very happy to have won the fight. Everything went according to plan. I was superfit and I knew the fight was not gonna last the distance,” Ngxeke said.
On the SA title he won in December last year, Ngxeke said: “I’m not sure whether I will defend the title or not. However, everything will depend on what my team says.”
Currently, Ngxeke is rated 14th by the World Boxing Council (WBC), 12th in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and is sixth in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) ratings.
So far, the 29-year-old Ngxeke from Sada in the Chris Hani District, has won 14 times with six of those wins coming from stoppages. He has lost once with the other fight ending in a draw. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
