Reigning South African heavyweight champion Shaun “G-D’s Warrior” Potgieter joined Colin Nathan’s NO DOUBT Management company on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s fight against Malawian Musa Ajibu.

Potgieter won the SA heavyweight title after he stopped Keaton Gomes in the 11th round at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park three months ago.

“Who doesn’t want a South African heavyweight champion? It was a very easy deal to put together. Gert Strydom and I will be partners in the management side of Shaun’s career going forward,” Nathan said.

Talking about joining forces with Nathan, Potgieter said: “To be honest, I’ve seen what Colin does for his fighters and he is a guy who I trust. He has done a lot and is still doing a lot. No doubt this is where I need to be.”

Potgieter is under the guidance of veteran trainer Gert Strydom, who works with strength and conditioning coach Danie du Preez.

Meanwhile, Ajibu is the same boxer who defeated former SA heavyweight champion Ruann Visser in an eight rounds bout in Malawi earlier this year.

“Watching his fight with Ruann, he moved around from the very first round until the last. So, I need to cut off the ring and close him down. Coach G and I have been working on that,” Potgieter said.
