Siyakholwa Kuse will finally make the first defence of his South African minimumweight title just over a year after he dethroned Bangile Nyangani in a rematch at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC).

Kuse, who is also the current African Boxing Union (ABU) minimumweight titlist, is scheduled to defend his SA title against Mapetla Mzamo-trained Malaki Sobolo on Sunday, 4 August.

Mdantsane-born Kuse has not fought since he stopped Tanzanian opponent Khalid Kalama Ally in the eighth round in an ABU title fight at the Whittlesea Multipurpose Hall in Sada in December last year.

On the other hand, third-rated Sobolo from Duncan Village in East London will go to the fight having won against Makhanda’s Phumlani Maloni in October last year.

Meanwhile, Kuse was due to have defended against Siphesihle Sityo, but the latter stepped aside as he still not ready to fight following an unfortunate incident where he was attacked by thugs.
