Sandile Zungu has not given up on his dream of seeing his team AmaZulu playing CAF Champions League football once again.

Addressing the media at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Monday, the Usuthu president made it clear that the KwaZulu-Natal side must return to Champions League football.

Usuthu played in the Champions League under their former coach Benni McCarthy three seasons ago. However, they didn’t go far in the competition.

“We want to play in the CAF Champions League and everybody knows what needs to be done. I’m expecting the players to be fit for purpose. I’m expecting the administration to be fit for purpose and the technical team to be fit for purpose,” Zungu said.

While addressing the media, the Usuthu boss promised that the Durban side would reinforce their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

“At the end of the month, we will be revealing new signings as well as a new headline sponsor and new stripes for the upcoming season,” Zungu remarked after Usuthu lost long tim sponsor Spar.

Meanwhile, Zungu said that he knows nothing about reported interest or departure of Usuthu players Abbubakar Mobara and Thembela Sikhakhane frim the team.

“There have been a couple of rumours about a whole lot of things particularly around Mobara and Sikhakhane. I want to state categorically that they are part of our team,” he said.
