Former South African junior-flyweight champion Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha’s year-long inactivity is closely coming to an end as he’s making a come back early next month.
Tyirha, who is trained by erstwhile SA flyweight titlist Makazole Tete at All Winners Boxing Club in Mdantsane, has moved down to the minimumweight division and will fight against a soon-to-be confirmed opponent on Sunday, 4 August.
Tyirha was pencilled to clash against KwaZulu-Natal minimumweight champion Thami ‘Bhubesi’ Luthuli. However, Luthuli’s handlers made a U-turn telling Tyirha’s camp that their boxer is now going to fight in Johannesburg next month.
Tyirha is yet to step inside the ring since he suffered a shock eighth round stoppage loss to Malawian George Kandulo at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in July last year.
