Mdantsane featherweight boxer Sanele Sogcwayi, who won a silver medal at the Mandela African Boxing Cup in Durbanthree months ago, has signed a promotional contract with Rodney Berman’s Golden Gloves.

Sogcwayi’s manager Thembelani ‘Shakes’ Hlombe has revealed that his charge had committed himself to Golden Gloves for the next three years. 

“We are back home from Johannesburg where we signed a three-year contract with Golden Gloves. Sogcwayi is going to train here in East London and then fly to Johannesburg for fights,” confirmed Hlombe.

According to Hlombe, the 22-year-old Sogcwayi, who is trained by former World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion Simphiwe ‘V12’ Vetyeka, is going to make his professional debut in October.  – Monwabisi Jimlongo
