Samkelo Frank Sotomela has challenged reigning South African flyweight champion Nkosingiphile Sibisi to defend his title against him.
Sibisi, who has won all his eight fights, made a successful first defence of his title when he defeated Theo Nxayiphi from the Eastern Cape on points in Dundee last month. Rated third in the South African flyweight division, Sotomela wants to be given a shot at Sibisi’s title.
“We sent a challenge form through on Friday. They’ve said that they got the email. Hopefully, the next defence for Sibisi is gonna be against Sotomela,” Sotomela’s trainer Shannon Strydom.
Mthatha-born Sotomela stopped Thabang Ramagole in the fourth round at the Box Camp Booysens, Johannesburg, two months ago.
