Enathi Stelle has left Luvuyo Boxing Club in Mdantsane to team up with former World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion Simphiwe ‘V12’ Vetyekas as his new trainer.
Stelle’s departure was confirmed by both his manager Andile Mshumpela and the boxer himself. Despite his departure from Luvuyo Boxing Club, Stelle will continue being managed by Mshumpela.
Stelle is the current Eastern Cape junior-bantamweight champion and is a former national title contender. He was stopped by Phumelela Cafu in 26 seconds when they fought for the then vacant SA junior-bantamweight title in December last year.
“Stelle was my first boxer as a manager and I have agreed to release him from the gym following his request because there some other things which I didn’t like. After he went missing from our gym, Stelle and I had a meeting where he requested to be released,” Mshumpela said.
“I told him that I had expected such a request from him. Initially, I had asked Vetyeka to do pad work with him. I have told Stelle that we still have a valid contract, which we signed in December last year. I will continue looking for fights for him as I’m still his manager. It’s gonna be up to him whether to take the fights or not.”
Stelle said when contacted for comment: “Yes, I have left Luvuyo Boxing Club. I’m now trained by V12. I will continue being managed by Bro Ace.” – Monwabisi Jimlongo
