Ricardo ‘Magic Man’ Malajika turned on the magic as he successfully defended his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-bantamweight title after he registered a stoppage win over Yanga ‘Showtime’ Sigqibo at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Friday evening.

After what could be described as a slow start, Malajika turned the heat from the third round and Sigqibo seemed to have had no answers. And it came as no surprise when Sigqibo went down in the sixth round.

From there onwards, it became one way traffic as Malajika hit Sigqibo at will, landing with almost every punch he threw.

Sigqibo went down for the second time in the fight in the 10th round without even being hit by Malajika. And the bout ended when fight referee Tony Nyangiwe counted Sigqibo out in the 11th round.
