Sunday’s jointly promoted tournament by Last Born Boxing Promotions and Kay B Promotions impressed Boxing South Africa (BSA) board chairperson Sifiso Shongwe.

It was a tournament where boxing followers witnessed Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile punishing his opponent Sebastianus Natanael from Namibia at the Orient Theatre in East London.

Fuzile, a former South African featherweight champion, was impressive as he defeated Natanael, who failed to come out of his corner at the beginning of the sixth round.

“It was a quality tournament. Everything came together in a singular package. That’s what professional boxing is all about. The venue was packed to capacity. There was interest in boxing and the boxing was world class,” Shongwe said.

Meanwhile, SA featherweight champion Zolia Batyi retained his title with a dominant performance against Yamkela Phaliso.

Batyi got the nod from all three judges, who agreed that he did very well to make a third successful defence of the title he won when he stopped Jeff Magagane in the second round in December 2022.

On the other hand, SA minimumweight champion Siyakholwa Kuse successfully defended his title after he stopped Malaki Sobolo in the fifth round.
