Kaizer Chiefs announced on Thursday announced that revered scout Thembela Maliwa had joined them as their new head of scouting and recruitment.

Maliwa joined the Naturena-based Amakhosi a day after he resigned from defending league champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Kaizer Chiefs are delighted to announce the appointment of Thembela ‘Tera’ Maliwa to the post of head of scouting and recruitment in the latest step in the implementation of their strategy to add quality to every aspect of the club’s structures in order to produce success on the field,” Amakhosi said in a statement.

Maliwa spent seven years working as a Sundowns scout and was credited for bringing some of the best talents to the Tshwane giants.

Maliwa was once a scout for Ajax Cape Town, who later changed their name to Cape Town Spurs following Ajax Amsterdam’s decision to pull out of their partnership with the team.
