It’s a new division as former South African minimumweight champion Bangile Nyangani from Mthatha is set to return to action later this month, following more than 12 months of inactivity.

Nyangani has not seen any action since he surrendered his SA minimumweight title to Siyakholwa Kuse at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in July last year.

And after that, Nyangani who is trained by Alan Toweel in Johannesburg, moved up two divisions to the flyweight division. He’s now going to face off against Njabulo Buthelezi at the Box Camp Booysens in Johannesburg on Friday, 20 September.

Just like Nyangani, Buthelezi will be fighting for the first time since July last year. He has not fought since he lost to Nkosingiphile Sibisi, who is now the reigning SA flyweight champion.
