There were murmurs and rumblings after their first fight in August last year, now South African featherweight champion Zolisa Batyi and Abdul-Aziz Kunert get to face off yet again.

Having drawn their first fight held in Bellville, Cape Town, Batyi and Kunert are scheduled to meet again in November and their clash is set to be held in East London.

“Yes, that’s true. I’ll be fighting against Batyi in November,” Kunert confirmed.

This is going to be Kunert’s third attempt to win the same national title. He lost to former SA featherweight champion Asanda Gingqi in September 2021 and drew with Batyi in August last year.

On the other hand, Batyi has successfully defended his title three times – drawing with Kunert plus wins over Lucky Hobyane in March and Yamkela Phaliso last month – since winning the crown by a second round stoppage of Jeff Magagane in December 2022. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
