Orlando Pirates came from behind to beat Chippa United 2-1 in their Betway Premiership opener at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday evening.
The Chilli Boys took the lead when veteran midfielder Andile Jali’s stunning shot from outside the box beat Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine hands down in the 22nd minute.
The Buccaneers pulled one back through their forward Tshegofatso Mabasa, who scored from a dubious penalty, in referee’s added time to make 1-1 at interval.
Monnapule Saleng netted the Buccaneers’ winning goal in the dying minutes of the match folowing a pass from Deon Hotto.
Meanwhile, Lamontville Golden Arrows beat Stellenbosch FC 2-0 with goals from Siyanda Mthanti and Lungelo Nguse at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
On the other hand, Sekhukhune United defeated their Limpopo neighbours and Premiership newcomers Magesi FC 1-0 from an Andy Bobwa Boyeli goal at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
