Mamelodi Sundowns maintained their unbeaten run as they made it two out of two after they defeated Marumo Gallants 4-1 in a Betway Premiership encounter at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Tuesday evening.
The Tshwane giants broke the deadlock through Tashreeq Matthews following a blunder by Gallants defender Vusi Sibiya in the ninth minute. After that, Sundowns pressed forward in search of a second goal and Iqraam Rayners made it 2-0 in the 34th minute following a pass from Matthews.
The Brazilians were quick off the mark at the beginning of the second half and made it 3-0 through Lucas Ribeiro Costa’s well taken goal in the 48th minute.
The defending champions were not done yet as second half substitute Siphelele Mkhulise netted the Brazilians’ fourth goal of the match.
Veteran Malawian-born striker Gabadinho Mhango shot straight at Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams from the penalty spot in the 87th minute after Zuko Mdunyelwa had fouled Monde Mphambaniso inside the box. A minute later, Mhango made amends as he scored for Gallants.
