It will be just over four months since his last fight when unbeaten Shervantaigh Koopman goes up against Canadian boxer Brandon Cook at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park.

Koopman and Cook will face off in a bid to claim the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental junior-middleweight title on Saturday, 26 October.

This fight comes after Koopman defeated Wendy Toussaint from the United States in a vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Intercontinental junior-middleweight title contest in June.

“We are pushing very hard, preparing for this fight. I’m going to make sure that I’m ready and in good shape. We want to make sure that we win this fight,” Koopman said.

Nicknamed ‘Bad Boy’, Cook from Ontario, Canada, will go to the Koopman fight carrying a record of 26 wins with 18 knockouts and two losses. Cook is on a six-fight winning streak.

“I know that the guy is number one in Canada and he challenged for the world title before against (Jaime) Munguia,” Koopman remarked. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
