Determination and a desire to maintain his unbeaten record are going to be the driving force when Mxolisi ‘Nation’ Zuma enters the ring for his ninth professional fight next week.
Zuma, who has stopped all his eight opponents, is set to test his fistic skills in a fight against Kenyan boxer Albert Kimario whose full name is Albert Kimario Ongoro, on Saturday, 12 October.
The two gladiators are pencilled to battle it out in a vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) junior-featherweight title contest at the Moth Hall in Dundee.
“We are busy preparing for next week’s fight against an opponent we almost know nothing about except what we saw on YouTube,” Zuma remarked.
“From what I have seen, he is a good boxer. However, I doubt he will be good enough against me and I don’t think he is going to be a problem. I will stop him if a chance comes during the fight.”
The 26-year-old Zuma from Empangeni, who is based in Dundee where he is trained by Mtuseni Dube, is a former amateur star and has taken the professional ranks by storm. That he has won all his fights by stoppages bears testimony to that. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
