Vanquished Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga is not going to take an emotional decision following his ninth round stoppage loss to Japanese boxer Masamichi Yabuki at the Aichi Sky Expo Convention Centre in Nagoya, Japan, on Saturday.

Yabuki scored his 16th stoppage win in 17 victories when he wrestled the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight crown from Nontshinga after he decked him three times – once in the eighth round and twice in the ninth.

“Obviously, it’s not the outcome we wanted. I’m gutted. I thought Sive should have let his hands loose more,” Nontshinga’s trainer and manager Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.

“We are not going to take an emotional decision. We really can’t make any decision now. Yes, Sive is naturally upset, but not as much as he was after he lost to Curiel (Dominguez). The next step now is for Sive to take a break and be with his family.”

This was the 25-year-old Nontshinga’s second stoppage defeat in a year having lost to Adrian Curiel Dominguez in Monaco last November. Nontshinga, however, avenged that defeated with a 10th round stoppage win over Dominguez in February this year. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
