Stellenbosch FC started the defence of the Carling Knockout by dumping AmaZulu out of the competition with a 2-1 win at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban, on Friday evening.

And after trying to level matters for some time, Usuthu finally equalised eight minutes into the second half when Tshepang Moremi scored following a pass from Wayde Jooste.
After the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in regulation time, the Cape Winelands side restored their lead when De Jong netted six minutes into extra time.
