After undergoing a successful shoulder operation eight months ago, former South African bantamweight title contender Lusizo “Speed Fire” Manzana is returning to the ring this coming weekend.
Rated third in the South African bantamweight division, Manzana makes a comeback against Siphosethu Mhlahlo from Chintsa in a six rounds bout at the Mthatha Hall on Sunday.
Manzana spent six weeks at the Bedford Hospital in Mthatha after he underwent an operation to fix a troublesome left shoulder earlier this year.
He was forced to undergo an operation after his shoulder problems worsened when he fought against Landile Ngxeke in a vacant SA bantamweight title contest in December last year. The 26-year-old Manzana was stopped in the fourth round owing to the shoulder injury.
Meanwhile, Mthatha-born Manzana’s fight against Mhlahlo is the main supporting bout to the Eastern Cape minimumweight title contest between champion Siphesihle Sityo from Duncan Village and Mthatha-born Mthokozisi Ngxaka.
