The seriousness in which South African minimumweight champion Siyakholwa Kuse takes his preparations for December’s fight against Beaven Sibanda knows no bounds.
In an effort to make sure that he acclimatises to Johannesburg weather conditions and beat the altitude, Kuse is set to leave East London to pitch his tents in Johannesburg until after the 6 December World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver minimumweight title fight against Sibanda.
While in Johannesburg, the reigning African Boxing Union (ABU) minimumweight champion is going to train at former national bantamweight titlist Phumzile Matyhila’s gym.
“Kuse is moving to Johannesburg on the 10th of November. And he is going to remain there until after his fight against Sibanda,” Kuse’s manager Mlandeli Tengimfene confirmed.
Kuse’s fight against Sibanda has been long in the pipeline and it was initially pencilled for 15 June this year, but it got cancelled. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
