Zolisa Batyi was made to sweat before successfully defending his South African featherweight title following a majority points decision victory over Abdul-aziz Kunert at the Orient Theatre in East London on Saturday evening.

In a fight which saw both boxers working very hard in search of a win, Batyi made a fourth successful defence of the title he won after he stopped Jeff Magagane in December 2022.

Batyi and Kunert drew in the first fight, which was held at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in Bellville, Cape Town, in August last year.

This was the third time Kunert from Cape Town tried to win the same title. He lost to Asanda Gingqi in September 2021 and drew with Batyi in August last year.

Meanwhile, former two-time SA champion Aphiwe Mboyiya beat Lindokuhle Dlamini on points in the main supporting bout.
