It was a winning start for Orlando Pirates as they beat Algerian side CR Belouizdad 2-1 in a Group C CAF Champions League match played at Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 in Algiers on Tuesday evening.

The Buccaneers’ goals came courtesy of a brace by Mohau Nkota. The 20-year-old netted his first goal in the fifth minute and completed his brace 22 minutes later.

On the other hand, Belouizdad’s goal came from Khanyisa Mayo’s header in the 66th minute. This was the former Cape Town City forward’s first goal since joining the Algerian side from the Citizens.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a goalless by AS Maniema Union from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
