After doing well in both the first and second sessions, the Proteas took only four days to defeat Sri Lanka by 233 runs in the first Test played at Kingsmead, Durban.
Chasing 516 to win, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 282 for the Proteas’ first win against them in Durban. Dinesh Chandimal top scored as he knocked 83 runs after facing 174 deliveries. The Sri Lankans crumbled after lunch having done well in the first session on Saturday.
Lanky Proteas allrounder Marco Jansen, who won the man-of-the-match award, took four wickets in the Sri Lanka second innings and he claimed 11 overall having taken seven in the first innings. Jansen only gave away 86 runs.
