Miguel Cardoso from Portugal was confirmed as the new head coach of Premiership log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday afternoon.
The 52-year-old Portuguese takes over from Manqoba Mngqithi, who had been at the helm since the chopping of Rulani Mokwena, now with Wydad Athletic Club in Casablanca, Morocco, five months ago.
Cardoso qualified Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis for next year’s Club World Cup tournament, but that was not good enough as he got fired after that. He brought along his assistants Fabio Fernandes, Pedro Azevedo and João Araújo from Portugal.
Steve Komphela and Kennedy Mweene have survived while Wendell Robinson, Mngqithi and Romain Folz have all been fired.
