Once again, the day belonged to batsman Ryan Rickelton as he etched his name into history books with a maiden Test double century as the Proteas posted 615 runs in 141,3 overs in their first innings at Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday.

At stumps on day two, the Pakistanis were 64 for three after 21 overs and trail the Proteas by 551 with Babar Azam on 31 from 77 balls and Mohammad Rizwan had hit nine runs off 28 deliveries. 

Meanwhile, Rickelton made his highest score in history as he knocked 259 runs from 343 deliveries. In the process, Rickelton hit 29 fours and three sixes. 

On the other hand, Kyle Verreynne knocked his fourth Test ton after he reached his 100 having faced 144 balls. He scored nine boundaries and five sixes. 

And Marco Jansen recorded the fastest half-century by a South African against Pakistan in Test matches. He reached 50 runs after facing 42 deliveries, knocking six boundaries and three sixes.
