Hattrick hero Sandile Mthethwa played an instrumental role as s merciless AmaZulu advanced to the last-16 of the Nedbank Cup after they massacred Eastern Cape amateur side Mighty Eagles 5-1 at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban, on Tuesday evening.
Mthethwa netted three times with the other goals coming from Etiosa Ighodaro and Mondli Mbanjwa while Awonke Mahlabela scored for Eagles.
Meanwhile, former Kaizer Chiefs striker Christian Saile Basomboli made an impressive start at SuperSport United as he together with Vincent Pule scored when Matsatsantsa a Pitori defeated Magesi FC 2-0 in another Nedbank Cup clash at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
And Stellenbosch FC came from behind to beat Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) outfit Kruger United 2-1 at the Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands.
