Cape Town boxer Abdul-Aziz Kunert has rejoined Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan’s NO DOUBT Management.
Kunert, who has challenged for the South African featherweight title on three occasions, will still be based in the Mother City as he will be trained by Steve Newton and Saligh Dollie.
Nathan said after re-signing Kunert: “He called me last week and asked if we could work together again. The thing is, when we parted ways back then, it wasn’t because we had a fallout. Dula needed to be in Cape Town because he and his wife had a newborn son and needed to be with the family. I consider Dula a friend outside of the sport.”
Kunert’s return to Nathan’s company came after his team of trainers decided to take a break from boxing this year.
“Obviously, I needed guidance and I have always turned to Colin for advice even during the time we were not together. We always had that relationship and he knows the business better than anyone else in the country and I trust him,” Kunert said.
Meanwhile, Kunert lost to SA featherweight champion Zolisa Batyi in East London last November.
And that was the second time has failed to dethrone Batyi as the first fight, which was held in Bellville, Cape Town, in August 2023, had ended in a draw.
Meanwhile, Nathan is currently negotiating with Siraaj Williams, the father of Cape Town boxer Shameeg Williams, about managing his son’s career.
