Eastern Cape-born scrumhalf-cum-flyhalf Sanele Nohamba is moving to Japan after he was released by Johannesburg-based franchise, Lions, on Monday afternoon.
Nohamba, who is leaving for Japan next week, confirmed that he had signed a two-year contract with Japanese side Yamaha.
“The Lions Rugby Company has granted Sanele Nohamba an early release from his current contract. The scrumhalf continues his club career in Japan,” a Lions statement said.
The 25-year-old Nohamba from Mavuso Location in Alice joined the Lions from Durban-based franchise, Sharks, in May 2022.
“I’m leaving for Japan next week to play for Yamaha. I have signed a two-year contract with the team,” the former South African Under-20 star said.
