East London-based boxer Sanele Sogcwayi is hoping for a perfect start and also make a lasting impression when he makes his professional debut next month.
Sanele, who together with his elder brother Mhlanganisi are trained by Ncedo Cecane, is set to make his long-awaited professional debut in a four rounds bout against Lungisani Mkhize at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park on Sunday, 2 March.
“I’m preparing for my professional debut, which is on the second of March. I would say my preparations are going very well,” Sanele said.
“I remained in the amateur ranks longer because I wanted to enhance my skills. On the day of the fight, I will show people the wisdom of staying longer at amateur level. I’m ready for this fight and I know that it’s another level at professional boxing.”
Meanwhile, Mhlanganisi is also going to fight in the same tournament when he clashes against former South African junior-lightweight title contender Sifiso Hlongwane in a six rounds bout. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
