The much-awaited elective conference of the Gauteng Boxing Promoters Association (GBPA) has been postponed to April.

It was expected that the GBPA would hold its elective conference before the end of the first quarter as per its promise last year. However, it has since been decided that the conference should rather be held in the first quarter of the 2025/26 financial year.

“Because we are closer to the relicensing period, our AGM or elective conference has been postponed to April,” Sandile Xaka, who is the GBPA convener, explained.

Xaka from Supreme Boxing Promotions is leading a seven-member task team, which was elected in November last year. Other members of the task team are Mapula Matlala, Akira Solomon, Thanyani Marageni, Leandra Beyers, Nomthandazo Msimango and Sonja Fernandes.

The task team was put in office following the disbandment of the GBPA executive by the National Professional Boxing Promoters Association (NPBPA) in 2022.
