Cape Town City confirmed the signing of former Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero on Thursday morning.
Serero, a former Ajax Amsterdam and Ajax Cape Town player, joined the Citizens after spending a few weeks training with them.
“Cape Town City Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Thulani Serero, marking his monumental return to South Africa’s top flight,” a Citizens statement said.
Serero left South Africa to join Ajax Amsterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie in 2011. He spent six seasons at the Dutch club before moving to Vitesse in the same Eredivisie.
The 34-year-old Serero, who was born in Soweto, then went on to play for Al Jazira and Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
