Things are falling into place for Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile as Boxing South Africa (BSA) has cleared him to travel to Kazakhstan for next month’s fight against unbeaten boxer Sultan Zaurbek.
Fuzile, who has been continuing with his fight preparations in Johannesburg since last month, faces Zaurbek in a World Boxing Association (WBA) Continenal junior-lightweight title contest at the Barys Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Saturday, 5 April.
“We have received a clearance from Boxing South Africa. So, we are now good to go as Azinga continues with his preparations in Johannesburg,” Fuzile’s manager Mlandeli Tengimfene said.
Fuzile, a 28-year-old former South African featherweight champion, has been training under the watchful eye of former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight titlist Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete in Johannesburg.
Speaking to BoxingScene, Zaurbek, who has won all his 19 fights with 13 of his wins coming from stoppages, said: “I’m excited to be fighting in Kazakhstan again for the first time in four years. And it is great that this is the biggest fight of my career so far.
“Fuzile is a world level fighter, has challenged at the highest level. I respect him, but I want to prove that I belong at that level. Astana on April 5 is the next step on my journey to a world title.”
The 28-year-old Zaurbek has not fought in Kazakhstan since December 2021. He has fought mostly in England even though his last fight was held in Ireland last December.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Fuzile will travel to Kazakhstan together with Tengimfene, Xolani Mampunye, Zolani, Makazole Tete and Lonwabo Witbooi.
