Former South African lightweight title contender Shameeg Williams from Cape Town joined NO DOUBT Management on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Williams joined NO DOUBT Management just over a week after he registered a second round stoppage win over Molatudi Mbhele in Cape Town.

“It’s something that my coach has always wanted me to do. I feel that my career will have more direction now,” Williams said after concluding the management deal.

With only 16 amateur fights and a single loss under his belt, Williams ditched his vest for the professional ranks under former Western Cape junior-welterweight abd welterweight champion Ashley Whiteboy’s guidance.

And with only three fights into the professional ranks, Williams was thrown into the deep end and rushed into an SA lightweight title challenge against champion Khaya Busakwe. After putting up a fierce fight, Williams lost by a 10th round stoppage in East London in December 2023.

Meanwhile, Williams’ move came after he contacted NO DOUBT Management director Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan seeking his guidance. Williams is rated number four in the SA lightweight division.

“I’ve always thought that Shameeg is a prospect with potential, but felt that he was rushed too early in his career. Having said that, I still feel that he has a very good future ahead of him,” Nathan remarked.

“I met with the team and we worked out a deal. I am very happy to say that Shameeg is now one of my fighters in the company. I will be partners with Siraaj and Ashley will be his trainer.”

With Nathan’s company in partnership with Boxing 5 Promotions, chief executive officer Larry Wainstein met the team shortly after they signed the Boxing South Africa (BSA) contract.

Williams is promoted by Jackie Brice of Jackie Brice Boxing Promotions (JBBP), a promotional outfit that has a relationship with Boxing 5.
