Bernice ‘The Badger’ Ferreira sees her fight against former world champion Bukiwe ‘Anaconda’ Nonina as a good test of her fistic skills as the two lasses clash this coming Saturday.

The unbeaten Ferreira faces Nonina, who has not laced her gloves in more than a year, in a six rounds bout at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg.

“I feel ready for this fight. I’m feeling strong as preparations for this fight have been good,” th 33-year-old Ferreira remarked.

Ferreira, a Gauteng female junior-lightweight champion, has acknowledged the fact that she’s coming up against an experienced campaigner in Nonina. Ferreira has won all her six fights with three of those wins coming from stoppages while Nonina has registered 20 victories, four knockouts, four losses and two draws.

“She’s more experienced compared to me. She’s gonna be my most experienced opponent so far. It’s gonna be a good test for me to fight against an experienced opponent like her,” Ferreira said.

“If I can handle her, then I will be ready for the big stage even challenging for the South African title. My main aim is to go for the SA title after this fight.”

Meanwhile, this is going to be Nonina’s first fight since her draw with Chiedza Homakoma from Zimbabwe in September 2023 and Ferreira defeated Sinesipho Mve in June last year. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
