Following three straight losses, Thabiso ‘The Rock’ Mchunu gets yet another opportunity to redeem himself as he’s going to oppose Amador Kalonji in Pretoria on Workers’ Day.

Mchunu, the reigning South African cruiserweight champion, faces Kalonji from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the SunBet Arena in Time Square on Thursday, 1 May.

KwaXimba-born Mchunu lost to Muslim Gamzatovich Gadzhimagomedov, Yamil Alberto Peralta and Ilunga Makabu in his last three fights while Strand-based Kalonji, the current World Boxing Federation (WBF) All-Africa cruiserweight champion, stopped Sandiso Kota in the sixth round in Cape Town last August.

Meanwhile, with five wins and three knockouts, Lindokuhle Khuzwayo will be hoping to stretch his unbeaten record when he fights against Sithembiso Maduna.

Khuzwayo will go to the fight against Maduna on the back of a win over Sonwabile Marenene at East London’s Orient Theatre in December last year.

Maduna, whose record stands at 12 wins with two stoppages and five defeats, lost his last fight against Congolese boxer Ardy Katompa in August.

The two fights are going to form part of the Legacy Boxing Promotions bill, which will see Kevin Lerena making the first defence of his World Boxing Council (WBC) bridgerweight title against Ukrainian Serhiy Radchenko.
