An impressive record of his next opponent does not scare lanky Ladysmith-born boxer and current KwaZulu-Natal super-middleweight champion Snamiso Ntuli.
Instead, Ntuli cannot wait to get into the ring and test his fistic skills against an unbeaten and hard-hitting Namibian foe Paulinus Ndjolonimus, who has stopped 17 of his 19 victims.
This World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa super-middleweight title contest between the two boxers is scheduled for Saturday, 12 April, at the Aramex Hall in Windhoek, Namibia.
“His record does not scare me. I wouldn’t have taken this fight had I been afraid of him,” Ntuli, who is trained by Reginald Khumalo, said.
Initially, the 29-year-old Ntuli was looking at challenging South African super-middleweight champion Asemahle Wellem, but has since changed focus to Ndjolonimus.
“Fighting for the SA title is still my dream. I’ll go to Namibia and then come back home for the SA title,” the number-one rated Ntuli said.
Ntuli, who won the KwaZulu-Natal title by a fifth round stoppage of Andile Mntungwa in March last year, put up an impressive performance when he defeated Donjuan van Heerden during their fight, which was held at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park in August. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
