Renovations, which are taking place at the Orient Theatre, have forced Mzi Booi’s Kay B Promotions to postpone its tournament scheduled for Sunday, 27 April.
The show has now been moved to the second last Friday of May should the renovation of the much-loved East London venue be completed.
Zolisa Batyi from Eluxolweni in Nxarhuni is going to headline the tournament as he will be making the fifth defence of his South African featherweight title against Lindelani Sibisi.
“Our tournament, which was scheduled for 27 April 2025, has been postponed due to the refurbishments of the venue Orient Theatre. The tournanent has now been moved to the Friday, 23 May 2025, at Orient Theatre,” a statement from Kay B Promotions said on Thursday afternoon.
And former SA champion Aphiwe Boyiya will face off against Sipho Mahlangu in a vacant national junior-welterweight title contest, which will serve as the main supporting bout.
Boyiya from Amalinda in East London will be vying for his third SA crown having won national titles in the featherweight and junior-lightweight divisions.
