Beaven Sibanda will be fighting in a new division and will be for the World Boxing Council (WBC) International junior-flyweight title against a yet-to-be-confirmed opponent in August.
This is going to be Zimbabwean-born Sibanda’s first fight since he lost to Siyakholwa Kuse in a WBC Silver minimumweight title contest at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton in December last year.
“He’s moving up to the junior-flyweight division and already there’s a fight that has been lined up for him. He will be fighting for the WBC International junior-flyweight title,” Golden Gloves managing director Rodney Berman confirmed.
Meanwhile, Berman also announced that Charlton Malajika will make a ring return in an IBO Youth bantamweight title contest against Filipino boxer RV Deniega early in July.
Malajika easily defeated Gcina Makhoba, stopping him in the third round during their fight at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park early in March.
Going by the moniker ‘The Crusher’, the 25-year-old Deniega is a former Philippines bantamweight champion.
