Sibabalwe Gwebityala, a boxer from Kuni village, is still standing as the reigning Eastern Cape female junior-flyweight champion.
This followed after Gwebityala scored a unanimous points victory over a game Okuhle Mthi in an all-female tournament held at the Scenery Park Hall in East London on Saturday.
And reigning South African female junior-flyweight champion Nozwelethu Mathontsi defeated Zizo Skoti by a split decision in the main supporting bout. Mathontsi’s title was not at stake during the fight.
Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal boxers Nomfundo Xaba from Ladysmith and Nkandla’s Thema Zuma prevailed against their Eastern Cape opponents as they won their fights.
Xaba stopped Thapelo Bokwe from KwaNojoli in the second round and Zuma defeated Scenery Park’s Babalwa Nonqonqotho by a unanimous decision.
