After he easily stopped Gcina Makhoba early last month, Charlton ‘Baby Pain’ Malajika will now return to action when he cones up against RV Deniega from the Philippines early in July.
Charlton and Deniega will be fighting for the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Youth bantamweight title at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni.
“I can confirm that Charlton is going to fight for the IBO Youth title in July,” Charlton’s trainer Manny Fernandes revealed.
The younger brother to reigning IBO flyweight and junior-bantamweight champion Ricardo Malajika, Charlton didn’t even raise a sweat when he stopped Makhoba in the third round during their fight in Kempton Park.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Deniega, a southpaw from General Santos City, is a former Philippines national bantamweight champion, who has a professional record of 11 wins with seven knockouts and a loss. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
