The board of governors of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) ratified the recommendation of PSL by executive committee to cancel Royal AM’s membership with immediate effect.

Only 30 of the 32 PSL clubs – 16 from the Premier Division and 16 from the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) – voted. There was one abstention and Royal AM didn’t vote.

With each Premiership club having 10 votes and Motsepe Foundation Championship teams each having two votes, 149 voted in favour of Thwihli Thwahla’s expulsion while 37 were against.

Thwihli Thwahla got expelled from the PSL after their financial troubles with the South African Revenue Services (SARS) resulted in them not playing a single match since the 29th of December last year.

Points accumulated from Thwihli Thwahla matches are going to be expunged including those that the team collected from the 11 games they played.
