Ntethelelo Nkosi and his trainer Damien Durandt leave for Saudi Arabia on Tuesday where the KwaZulu-Natal boxer will participate in the WBC Grand Prix, which starts in Riyadh this coming Thursday until Sunday.
Nkosi is one of only three South African boxers, who have been selected to participate in the WBC Grand Prix. Others are featherweight boxer Bekizizwe Maitse and former South African heavyweight champion Keaton Gomes.
“We are leaving on Tuesday. The draw, which will determine who faces who, takes place on Tuesday,” Durandt revealed.
“Nkosi is in great shape and is very excited for the opportunities lying ahead. This is a once in a life time opportunity. If we win, there will be continuity as fighters will fight every two months.”
The 28-year-old Nkosi, who was born in Mtubatuba, vacated the SA junior-welterweight title last month after he was selected to take part in the WBC Grand Prix. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
